Happy New Year Everyone!!!
So sorry it is coming a little late in the year. But better late than never, yes? Welcome to 2015!
First thing that comes to my spirit is this verse: “Many will be purified, cleansed, and refined by these trials. But the wicked will continue in their wickedness, and none of them will understand. Only those who are wise will know what it means” (NLT Rev. 12:10). What this means is that there is a point where things that will happen will make sense only to the wise, the ones that have Jesus on the inside because Jesus is the very wisdom of God (1 Cor. 1:24). We will just know regardless that God has us covered.
Most of the predictions for 2015 are scary. Today, Brent Crude is priced at $47 per barrel and is estimated to fall further to $40 from $115 in June, whilst our budget benchmark is $65 per barrel. We are facing a staggering budget deficit with potential job losses on the horizon and the Naira is weakening. There are also fears of political instability, all of which speak gloom around us. But the beauty of it is that God has for us a Goshen. A place where like Israel, He preserves us from the plagues of the world. Have you ever seen light spring up against a backdrop of darkness? That is how God wants to shine through us amidst darkness.
But how does God intend to do this?
Like my pastor says, when Israel got into difficult times, God never sent financial analysts to them, he sent a prophet and what did the prophet take to them? The word. So you see, our ticket into Goshen is the word that God gives.
If the word is the ticket, what do we do with this word? I don’t know where you are but I am sure God has given you a word, what are you doing with what you have received? This post is to share with you 3 things you must do to ensure that you walk in that word courtesy of an exhortation shared by Mrs. Udo Okonjo.
- Receive and Believe the Word.
“Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” 2 Chron. 20:20 (NLT)
We have to believe the word we have received. It matters not if it sounds contradictory to the situation around. Imagine God giving you a word like FLOURISH or FRUITFULNESS amidst the gloom. It is possible that those become just words, mere ‘Christianese’ but NO! We must RECEIVE and BELIEVE the word, believing that He who spoke them is faithful. Another thing; don’t allow the seed of the word to be stolen away. If the birds of the air have stolen it away already, it is time to get it back and stand on it. The God that exalts His word above all His names will surely bring it to pass.
- Review and Activate the Word
Activating the promise comes with practicality. You have to meditate on the word that God has given you till you begin speaking it; By speaking it, you give the word form. You need to activate the word by entering into new levels of faith and worship. Imagine how a cow masticates in the digestive process; that is supposed to be our approach to the word. You chew on it, keep it, chew on it again until you extract the moisture and the Holy Spirit breathes on it. Be ready to obey God’s every word even if it makes no sense. Walk in obedience. That is the practicality. And as you meditate on the word, it will come alive for your circumstance and God will begin to speak to your particular situation and give you practical instructions. JUST OBEY!!!
- Run and War with the Word
Warfare is an integral portion of activating the word. God has already done it but there is need for us to hold God like Jacob did. War for your destiny to be birthed. That God has said it does not mean that the promise comes free. The blessing sometimes comes from a place of warfare and battle, and we fight from a position of victory. As you activate God’s word, you will receive revelation and instructions. Sometimes you will receive an instruction to ‘do’ something. Other times God will lead you to ‘speak’ into a situation, and still other times you will receive a call to war.
Whatever lies ahead you, be encouraged. Know for sure that when the dust settles we win. It is a season to be brave, to hold God’s word and pray the prayer of Jabez. It is time to stop praying limited prayers to a limitless God.
Above all it is time to take ACTION but remember ‘Before God moves visibly in power, He always moves invisibly in holiness and consecration.’
Have a fruitful 2015, a year when you are settled in the word, and settled in Goshen.
