The MakeOver

makeover 2

Recently, I was involved in a renovation project and even I am amazed by the insight it brought and I am going to share it here.

Mr and Mrs. X lived in their own home alongside their kids. They had built and moved into the house several years ago and become quite comfortable in the house as it was. Now and then a few things went bad and needed to be fixed and they would invite skilled work men to fix that area. But recently, one thing after another, they decided that it was time to do a full blown renovation.  They just decided to do more than simply rearrange and repair one at a time, it was time to look at the entire house holistically and have an entire makeover...

Be an example

“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” 1Timothy 4:12

I have come to the conclusion that being an example radiates from our very being.  It’s who we are, what we believe in, and how we act. There is good in everyone.  Even though our beliefs may differ, we all radiate something. What is it that you radiate?  What conviction shows forth from you that says “I AM AN EXAMPLE”?  Can Christ depend on you to communicate a message? Is your life an epistle to be read of all men? Sometimes, these things sound far fetched, but they actually are not.

Make-It-Count

He would not permit anyone to carry any household equipment through the temple enclosure [thus making the temple area a short-cut traffic lane].” – Mark 11:16 (AMP)

The text speaks about what Jesus did after He “Cleaned House” at the Temple. He sent home the people at the temple who were ‘robbing,’ and also did something that we all need to pay attention to; He made sure that others would not use the courts of the Temple as a “short-cut traffic lane” anymore. “He would not permit anyone to carry any household equipment through the temple enclosure [thus making the temple area a short-cut traffic lane]”. The temple had a much higher impact and purpose.

Just like the temple story, in life there are so many paths that you can take to achieve something...

“How are you doing?”

how-are-you26

“Hello, how are you doing?” That is often a conversation opener or something we say when we meet people at first and for many of us, one question we generally do not expect a response to.

Well, that assumes that we are beginning a conversation in the first place and not barging in on them like some do with a PING on BBM instead of hello to get one’s attention (that irks me to no end) and I have an aunt who does it just for that reason. I love you auntie :-) Anyway, back to the main gist, it takes other forms such as, howdy, which also means, ‘how are you doing?’

how are you

My pastor once told a story of how at a service, you know how you are encouraged to exchange pleasantries with the person next to you and smile and make them welcome just before the service begins or in the course of the ser...
