Confident Trust

confident trust 2

@TheLAfamily and I have been studying the New Testament. Today, while studying Hebrews 9 and 10 the following verses stood out for me.

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise (Heb. 10:23)

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!  Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do Gods will. Then you will receive all that he has promised (Heb. 10:35-36)

Have you ever been in company of a guide in the middle of what appeared to be nowhere and next thing, you find out that, thanks to your guide, you actually arrived where you were initially headed even if it didn’t appear like you were headed there? You probably just stood in awe at the proficiency of your guide or you didn’t even worry at all to begin with because you trusted him. Life can be like that, you appear to be in the middle of nowhere on the way to nowhere, based on what you can see but you must always remember that you have God as a guide taking you through life’s maze. Can you imagine having a life dream about something, a sure word from God about where He is taking you, and so you build your entire life around that dream coming to pass because God never lies, and suddenly it all falls apart?  Hold tightly to the hope you affirm, God can be trusted to keep His promise.

A few years ago when a door I considered a great opportunity closed in my face, it left me emotionally and spiritually wounded, which got me exhausted. That’s the regular reaction, but we must never stay in the place of weakness and exhaustion, when we do, we begin to see life through the eyes of our pain and this process is capable of disarming our very hope; we lose faith about life, our future, and ultimately, in God and His capacity to deliver us. God always comes through for us, if we can be patient through the tribulation and stay joyful in trials. We need to stay assured that amidst the tribulation, God is guiding us for sure.

Let’s learn from Joseph: he experienced some major disappointments in life, all before he even turned thirty; he grew up without the love of his mother; his brothers hated his guts, so much that they sold him into slavery; when it seemed like he finally got some relief in his good boss Potiphar, he was falsely accused and convicted of sexual harassment; and then when it looked like all was well,  the person conveniently forgot that he was in jail. All of these disappointments happening to someone who had a covenant with God? One who had lofty dreams and a coat of many colors? But amidst the disappointment Genesis 29:23 says that, Joseph found favour with the head jailer because God was with Him. That’s significant, Joseph was in jail, yet God was with him. And beyond that, God was making sure that everything he did worked out for the best.

The question is, is God with me? If the answer is yes, then it is simple, whatever I do, God is there to ensure that it all works out for the best.

I know we often pray for God to order our steps, we also need to realize that God ordering our steps doesn’t necessarily mean a life devoid of challenges. We must also be open to relying on His guidance regardless of where it leads us. Think about the options: for Daniel, it led him to the lion’s den (Dan. 6), for David, it was a valley (Psalm 23), and for Joseph, it was a pit!  Each of these folks (Daniel, David, and Joseph) stayed rooted in God, walking in integrity and trusting God’s ability to navigate their circumstances. Are you dealing with a disappointment?  If you have asked God to guide you, trust that he knows the best path for you. Like Joseph, choose to see the blessing in the disappointment. Maybe a door of opportunity has just shut in your face and you are getting exhausted and wondering why God didn’t just step in and make it all right because you know He definitely could have. Don’t wallow in self-pity, be like Joseph, and understand that God’s hand is upon you and that you have guidance through your disappointments. Be encouraged by Joseph, his end exceeded his expectations for sure. Hold on! God is guiding you through your present disappointment.  He can be trusted to keep His promise.

So like Joseph, do not throw away your confident trust in God!

God bless you and thanks for reading. I hope this blessed you as much as sharing blessed me.

Aunty eloho. That verse couldn’t have said it any better. Just few weeks ago I was lamenting about how my life was so off course but I realized that hey its ok trust him to order your steps. Things may not go your way but he is there. Confidence in christ is all.

    • Stupendous Grace  says:

Yes dear Suze, it is perfectly okay to trust God to order your steps. Stay confident in the finished work. Much love dear.

What I took away from this piece is that God is with me especially during a time of major disappointment. I had a major disappointment early last year that completely threw me off my plans – I tell you, it shook me but at the end I just had to trust God – believing He has a better plan 4 me. Thanks for reminding me of His omnipresence, potent & science! God bless buddy-mine.

God’s promises are constant our feelings and circumstance are variable. That verse is a sure prophesy for me this season!

    • Stupendous Grace  says:

Exactly! God’s promises are constant and our feelings and circumstances are variable. Bless you!

“I know we often pray for God to order our steps, we also need to realize that God ordering our steps doesn’t necessarily mean a life devoid of challenges.”

That’s my number three prayer point everyday. 😀

Sometimes the challenges are exactly God ordering my steps ‘cos the alternative (though seemingly less challenging) leads nowhere good.

You’re a blessing @eloxie. God bless you for me.

    • Stupendous Grace  says:

You are in the Spirit dear, I wonder what else is on your lovely prayer list. He he he. May God continually guide our steps a right. You are a blessing Jite. God bless you.

This is a must read for every one going through rough times. I remember how every disappointment in my life turned out to make a better me today. Remember that the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord. Ps 106:4 is also one of the promises that I hold on to. Just like the bible stories above, we will have a better testimony if we only trust God always. Thanks Eloho for sharing.

    • Stupendous Grace  says:

You are welcome dear. God is always faithful. We will indeed have a better testimony if we trust God always. Thanks my dear, welcome back after the long hiatus. We missed you.

Just this morning I was telling NH that it’s almost funny how good God is. And that if I’d trusted him for a situation I was crying about last year, I would have spared myself a lot of tears. What seemed like such a huge problem back then was quickly and speedily rectified by God. I wish I had believed and had faith then…

    • Stupendous Grace  says:

So glad to hear dear NW. Yes God is so faithful,I wonder why we never seem to realise how much when the dark cloud looms over us, He however goes beyond us and shows Himself faithful in spite of ourselves. But here’s the good part, every experience with Him builds our ability to trust Him even more the next time. God bless you dear.

  • aidiamond  says:

Yes you did bless me. thank you so much.God bless you.Right now, I am holding on to God’s word even though a lot seems to be far. i have been disappointed but have seen God turn it all for my good when I cast my gaze back on Him. I love your notes and pray you continually grow in wisdom.

    • Stupendous Grace  says:

You are welcome dear. Please hold on to God’s word, I am holding on too and I know in whom i have believed and I am persuaded that He is able to keep all that I have committed unto His care.I welcome you to join me. God is surely able and at the end , looking back, we will have testimonies like Joseph of how God kept His covenant. But God is depending on us to keep His word like Joseph did, to walk in the spirit and stay in His presence, that way we can testify that God was with us even in prison. Here’s an encouraging hug dear, this too shall pass.

Powerful!!! God can be trusted to do what He said He will do. It is very easy for one to get discouraged when it looks as if the road is unknown, but I always like to say that, He is indeed safer than a known way. Thanks for inspiring me as usual. Happy new year sis.

    • Stupendous Grace  says:

Happy New Year to you too big sis. So glad to have you here. Yes God is faithful and not only ‘can’ He do it, He will do it. Here’s to unreserved faith and confident trust in our Great God.
